My jeep quit running on my last september...took it to a Chrysler tech who charged me alot of money to hook up his scanner and replace the CPS. jeep ran fine for another week, then the same stumbling and stalling came back.

now its may, the jeep still does not run. ive put 2 more CPS' in it (along with the sensor in the distributor, a new ECU, and TPS) and none have solved the issue.

1 out of every 30 or so attempts to start it and it will fire up and if i keep my foot on the gas it will run for a little bit. 2500-3000 rpms but still stumbles when holding it steady. as soon as you let off and it goes to idle...it stalls.

when cranking it will sometimes backfire/pop thru the throttle body, but the timing is correct.i know its getting fuel, i checked iwth a gauge and it was in spec and when you crank it for awhile you can smell the raw gas.

its been sitting in the same spot now for 6 months, and if it doesnt run soon i will prolly set it on fire and have an awesome bonfire out of it.

On top of the issues you already have, that gas is starting to get old.

its got stabilizer in it. ive started vehicles that sat for 1-2 years on bad gas, they dont run greta but it still starts.

if i cant fix it soon ill dispose of the old gas easily.

well i finally got it after hundreds of dollars spent. i put a new distributor in it and BINGO. runs like a top again. problem is tho, what causes the teeth of the distributor gear to wear down and almost wear OFF, just lots of miles or is something wrong?

the dist has 189k on it.
