96 xj 4.0 HO Problem fuel pump / filter / relay

96 xj 4.0 HO 109k miles Original Parts (Relay, Pump, filter)

Here is what is going on: After the truck did not want to start this morning (5 minutes trying), I started to troubleshoot.. It seems the fuel pump was not turning on when i turned the key to the 2nd spot (before cranking it on). I left the key on this spot for about a minute as i walked around to peek under the back to see if i can hear the pump. Suddenly it kicked on.. I then turned the key and it started back on. I drove around the block a few times to ensure it would not die. I parked it back on the driveway, turned it off and you guessed it. It did not want to turn back on.

I am sure that if i leave the key and wait it will maybe turn back on.. I am thinking to replace in this order.. 1. Relay 2. Pump 3. Filter

has this happened to anyone else? It seems like it could be an electrical issue (signal going to pump) or Pump is going.

Ok so just wanted to update, I took the relays (arrows) and swapped them. then i turned the key and the pump kicked on. The truck turned on. I then turned it on and off a few times and it fired with no issues. It seems one of these relays is bad. I will replace them with new one and see if this took care of the issue.

Fingers crossed
