hello I have 96 Cherokee sport with the 4.0 it runs great going down the road but as soon as I let off the gas the tach drops and it dies. It does not do it all the time and sometimes it almost does. Any help would be appreciated.

 

Probably the first thing to check is the condition of the throttle body and IAC (Idle Air Controller). It is a relatively easy job to do, and a new IAC is a relatively cheap part. The existing one can be cleaned, but sometimes they are just better off being replaced.
