I think the reason all the posts are archived is so that people can search for answers. We have all seen posts where it is stated that "this subject" has been posted several times and that the poster should of searched.

I would like to also point out that the "old" post isn't old to the new member searching for answers. Maybe the original poster has solved their problem, or has left the forum, but their experience and knowledge gained is very beneficial to other members.

Instead of mocking someone for replying to an old post, maybe we should understand that they are seeking advice and help to something similarly posted in that old post.

And the "spoiled brat" comment is way below the spirit of this forum, and who are you to say you are correcting other people or asked you to? Sounds more to me that you are a self indulged horn blower trying to make yourself feel good.

Have a nice day...

Dragging up old threads is just another form of thread hijacking. It clutters up the forum and forces people who are donating time and expertise to wade through a bunch of no-longer-relevant debris to get to the new post that is seeking help.

When finding an old thread that is related, the proper behavior is to link to the old thread and mention what is relevant about it, while describing your problem and what you have already done to try to solve it.

I think if a poster has a legitimate question regarding the content he or she finds in an old post, they should be able to post a question or comment without the retribution of the self appointed forum old post cop as it doesn't serve no significant purpose to the poster, or the forum.

Let's let the owner of the site and the admins establish the rule of access to old posts.

Have a nice day!

I know this is an old thread but have to agree with BruceB. I saw the title of the thread, read through it, and learned something from Nick Moses' reply. Most cars I have owned will run with a dead battery once it is started, didn't realize my '96 Cherokee would crap out if the alternator was good and battery was bad.

And to add to BruceB's point, what's the proper etiquette for these things. I see new folks getting blasted for asking the same question that has been answered 20 times but when they do a search and have a follow-up question to an old thread they get the dreaded Zombie thread lecture.

It serves the purpose of keeping the forum from being overrun with thread hijacking. Sites that do not police this kind of free-for-all behavior degenerate into a mess that is good for nobody.

Wow.... I really don't think anybody comes on this site to "hijack" a thread to cause a total mess of the forum with a "free for all behavior". You with that statement bring nothing good to this forum or the very adult post you made to me earlier "Or are you just such a spoiled brat that it hurts your tiny brain any time anyone gets corrected?"

it would seem to me that you have some real issues....therefore I choose to block you in order to stop reading your nonsense.
have a nice day!
