I am going to look at a 96 tommorow for my gf. No rust, but needs new header panel etc. and passenger fender. Interior is very nice, unknown miles(my stepdad saw it and told me)
They are asking 600, what do ya think?
What are some things to look for, seeing as i dont know much about pre 97 style.
thanks folks

The body may look ok but crawl under it and check the all floor pans esp the drivers footwell area, these rust through pretty fast, the rockers too. other than that every thing else is stright foward. $600 sounds like a pretty good deal.
I've posted it before, but my buddy who runs a junkyard gets around $650 a car for the metal AFTER he strips off everything he can use.
If you're buying it for your gf, though, go through it and fix what you need to make it right.

THings to look for..Take a couple basic tools with you as well
Rust
Leaks - oil, trany, water and so on..
Check oil and tranny color..also coolant color
Drive it and see how it rides
Check for oil on the filter
Pull a plug and check it..(if you take a socket to pull it with.)
Check plug wires, cap and rotor condition
Look for leaks around axles, wheel and brakes...
Check the hoses and belts
These sort of things can aid in detecting how well the jeep was taken care of.Anyways good luck.

Welcome to a dual Jeep family. We were for several years but are now reduced to a single Jeep family again. Oh the pain
