Default 95 vs 96 valve cover gasket 4.0L

I was looking into fixing my leaking valve cover gasket and I was wondering what the difference is between the 95 and the 96 because the 96 has the metal that seems to strengthen the gasket and the 95 is just a single piece of rubber that you lay down around it. Id really like to use the one with the metal. Will they both work? I dont really trust the lady at the counter when all she says is umm umm and seems to go along with what im saying.
Thanks for any help

Get a Fel-Pro gasket for your model year. (I'm pretty sure they are the same for those two.)

The difference you are seeing isn't a difference in years, it's a difference in quality.

Yea i meant the fel pro sorry. If you look at the fel pro from napa for a 95 its just the rubber and the 96 is the rubber with the metal in it and the little rubber grommets.

I think the 95 and older had a cast valve cover, and the 96 and newer had a stamped valve cover. the stamped one has the possibility to flex when being torqued down to 7 foot ponds and the cast one would be more rigid at the same torque spec. The older one would not need the grommets dew to being more rigid.

Just did a Felpro VC gasket on a 94 a few weeks ago. It had the cast VC. Gasket was the same part # as my 99 with the stamped steel VC. Like Dan said, it will come with the bolt grommets but you will not need them.

Hey thank you guys! Just want to get the best one for my rig. Glad i can use the stamped steel one. Made by the same company but one just looks and feels better.

Going to get this done this weekend and im wondering if anyone knows the pounds i should torque the bolts down to? All i cant find is the pounds for the valve cover that use the rubber grommets.
