95 Cherokee - No start/spark
95 Cherokee - Straight six
Problem: Will not start. Plug the plugs and grounded them and there was no spark. Somehow I got it started yesterday and once it was started it ran completely fine and pulled right to redline.
Replaced cap/rotor and ignition coil.
The only things left I can think of are wires, plugs and the distributor itself.
Is there something in the distributor that would cause it to become hard to start and start very rarely, but once it's started it runs fine???

96 cherokee No start No spark
96 cherokee 4.0, auto, 4x4, 160,000 well maintainted since it left the dealership. Drive or idle for 25-30 mins it dies and sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't start after that and have to let sit for 1 hr or more, sometimes it doesn't start at all and sometimes it doesn't show power to the coil, wire from coil to the (PCM) computer looks ok and connection seems to be good. A OEM Tech. bulletin that said the factory makes a replacement wire kit for that wire which leads me to believe that there was a problem with that wire. parts replaced : (PCM) computer from the dealership, programed and update when installed, (CPS) crank positioning sensor, coil, Pick-up coil under the distributor cap (also known as cam positioning sensor...go figure), cap, rotor, plugs and wires, Automatic shut off relay(under the hood in the fuse/relay box) fuel pump relay(next to the other relays in the same box under the hood), fuel pump, filter. TPS, maybe going to try the new wire (coil to the PCM next).. 2 other ASE gold patch mechs. with 15-25 yrs exper. and me are scratching are heads...seems heat related kinda....did we miss something??? It's not throwing any codes to speak of. Any ideas would be helpful... Thanks Guys...

I had this same problem with my 5.0 mustang and it ended up to be a bad relay (fuel pump/ecu). Nearly drove me insane. Replaced the relay and never had a problem since.
Just a thought.
