94 XJ Ignition lock/switch problems.
Well its a GM steering column in my 1994 jeep, (Saginaw i believe ? )
whats happened is, when you insert the key and move it from lock position, to the next slot, its moving smoothly. From there to "ACC" there is something catching( bent ignition switch actuator rod?) and makes an awful snapping noise and then eventually it goes past that point with some brute force. And then it wont start(goes all the way forward like normal) once its passed the "lock up" but wont give any power to starter. Radio, cigg lighter, ac all work, but no start. been reading on forums, and it says its the ignition switch(electrical) which im going to replace of course but Im pretty sure its snapping noise is a mechanical problem.. I figured someone would be able to walk up and be like "aww here ya go, stupid little things out of play....." lost as fcuk..... any help is appreciated james |

anything guys? |
This is a very weird and tricky problem. To be honest I would get a new key and tumbler from an auto store and get a new column from pic a part. I had the same issue and when I went through the entire column, nothing fixed it.
