Exclamation 94 Cherokee cranks gets fuel but won't start!!!

Hey everyone. I just recently got a 1994 cherokee with a 4" lift and a 4.0 in line 6 cylinder. The guy i got it off of tuesday, said he drove it to work one day and went that same afternoon to go back home and it wouldn't start. So when me and my mechanic buddy went to look at it we both thought it would be something cheap and simple. Well after 2 long nights and a new timing chain set, distributor, rotor button, computer, and cps its still not wanting to start at all. It has spark, and it has fuel pressure and fuel. Can someone help me out ?!?!

How do you know it has spark? Sounds like a faulty CPS to me. Some come out of the box bad so get a multimeter and test it

Pulled the plugs individually and used an inline tester. Also these are new plugs.

Just talked to another guy and he said the coil might be the issue. Said even with it getting spark that it might not be a strong enough spark to ignite the fuel.

Thats correct.

Air, fuel, and GOOD spark are needed.

Here he says he's already got a new CPS.

Here he says he has spark, however hasn't verified it's a full power hit.

So I'm going to guess that since there is spark something is signaling the coil to TRY and fire, which...I would think...means the cps is OK.

You need a strong, BLUE, snapping spark to start the engine.

If it HAS spark (and you said it did), then the absolute next thing to do is to verify that you have quality spark.

Test the ignition coil. The #1 cause of weak spark is the coil. They can be tested for both primary and secondary resistances with a meter and a manual. In about 5 minutes.

If you have a good spark, the two engine management system sensors I would test would be the camshaft position sensor and the coolant temperature sensor. It's not common, but both of them can fail in a way that will prevent the engine from starting.

Also use the below key-on, key-off technique to check for any stored codes.

OBD1 Models: 1991-1995
1) Start engine (if possible). Move transmission shift lever
through all positions, ending in Park. Turn A/C switch on and then off
(if equipped).
2) Turn engine off. Without starting engine again, turn
ignition on, off, on, off and on within 5 seconds. Record 2-digit
fault codes as displayed by flashing MIL.
3) For example, fault code 23 is displayed as flash, flash,
4-second pause, flash, flash, flash. After a slightly longer pause,
other codes stored are displayed in numerical order. When MIL begins
to flash fault codes, it cannot be stopped. Start over if count is
lost. Code 55 indicates end of fault code display.

Alright. So just to update everyone. We finally got it running. Ended up retesting the coil and it wasn't firing, (though my mechanic said he checked it), so we replaced it and also we found that it had some pretty bad fuel in it, luckily it was about empty and we got it all drained out and once new fuel was in and we got the distributor lined up where it needed to be, it ran great. Now, of course theres more problems, my headlights won't work. I can pull the switch completely out and the only thing that works is the right parking lights, all rear lights work correctly but also none of the blinkers at any time work. Found out that the #5 fuse isn't getting power from the key switch so I'm going to have to troubleshoot that a little further. The P.O said they worked for him but for whatever reason they aren't working now. Thank you all for all your help with this issue its great to finally hear it run and drive.
