94 and 97 XJ - what parts are compatible? Trans? Engine

Well, I've read a few dozen threads on compatibility between years, and didn't find this specific combo.

I'm parting out my '94 (a moment of silence, please).

Is the trans compatible with my '97? T-case? How about the engine?

Anything else I should grab before I advertise what's left?

Engine yes.
Trans probably.
Transfer case MAY have a different number of lobes to trigger the VSS.

Then I think I"ll just hang on to those and save them for a future project. There's a trans rebuilder in town who has a really good reputation. Now to find a machine shop to match...

I expect I'll need to do some upgrading to the electronics?

Use the stock ones. Good to go.

Hmmm. No OBDII issues? That's too easy! :D

Sorry.

OBD ain't that smart and there's so little differences in the motors.

U can swap the transfer cases just fine. Just retain your speedometer on the 97.

The transmissions can swap but u ll need to do some electrical work to change the connectors or something.

Swapping engines will work if you retain your 97 sensors.
