93 jeep wont stay running
93 Jeep Cherokee wont stay running!
replaced fuel pump did a complete tune up! Now when driving down the road it just dies. It starts right back up but running out of ideas! Can anyone help? |
If it starts fine when cold, but dies when engine warms up, the #1 suspect is the crankshaft position sensor and the #2 suspect is the ignition coil.
Failing with a hot engine means you are experiencing a "THERMAL FAILURE" of a component. The crank sensor is the most COMMON sensor failure on the Jeep 4.0 Below is a link to more on the crank sensor. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/c...ailing-639123/ |

I had a similar problem with my 93 and 94...I would be driving and all of a sudden it would just turn off, but start right back up. Turned out to be the crank sensor on both of them, Hope this helps.

I will try this! Thank you so much the thing is driving me crazy!! Will the engine light kick on too or no? I have no lights coming on as well.
|
When my crank sensor went out there was no check engine light.
|
When a crank sensor fails, it only sets a check engine about a third of the time, maybe less than that.

This sounds exactly like what I'm going through.. I ordered a new CPS, hoping this will fix it.. Should be here Monday.
