93 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L WHITE SMOKE (dipstick/engine cap)

Hi,

so I started seeing white smoke from my dipstick and engine cap after I driven for a little bit. I checked because I noticed my oil gauge wasn’t not up high when I was in park.

So I checked to see if the oil gauge would go up when I pressed on the gas and it didn’t or when I changed gears no movement from the needle at all.

Later that day I moved the Jeep and the oil gauge was working normally so I’m curious to know if I should be worried about that or white smoke any.

Some white smoke is normal...its your crankcase breather vapors...check your dipstick in the morning and make sure it is not milky or showing white sludge. If not then dont worry about it ...carefully monitor your coolant level. Check in the same spot usually in morning when its cooled completely if not dropping and oil is pure oil then all good

The oil pressure sensor is a common failure. Have a look at the wire to the sensor and make sure it's not damaged. I would always recommend checking the pressure with a mechanical gauge before assuming you actually have low oil pressure, especially if the reading is erratic.
