93 Jeep Cherokee 2dr Sport. Some issues.
Hey guys im new here.
Well the story is that i bought a "new" jeep, for 750 thinking it needed a little bit of work from what the guy told me. i thought i could have a small project, clean up the interior as is it dirty as hell and some new tires and i would be good, but i was pretty wrong.. lotta stuff wrong with it that i have no idea how to fix
Interior lighting doesnt work. i try to turn on my headlights, they come on, so do high beams. but no interior lighting or gauge lighting comes on at all. so i was stuck in the dark. i have no idea what this could be, a fuse or something.
also none of the turn signals work. but the backup lights, brake lights and all those work.
and also the handbrake does not stay in place, it works if you pull it up, but the lever goes back down if you let go, there is no button on top of the lever either. this is kinda important cause its a stick, i dont want it to randomly start rolling around.
I found some wires that were unplugged and 2 of them cut. i plugged it back in didnt do anything though.
also there are speaker wires and random wires everywhere, and the stereo is ripped out looks like it was stolen.
i figured i should post some pics of the fuse box and the cut wires.
any suggestions?

That last pic looks like the disconnect plug for the door ajar pressure switch. Does your interior lighting come on if you turn you headlight switch all the way to the left?

if your turn signals dont work and youyr high beams are stuck on chances are the lever on the left side of your steering column that controls that stuff is shot and for the ebrake that little button your missing is what locks the lever in place go to the JY and get a new lever youl be good

The high beams turn on and off, just the turn signals dont. Everything else on that lever works.

it looks like your missing some fuses. Put the correct rated fuses in those empty slots with the prongs. and follow that wiring job somebody did and see what it goes to.

Get a manual, Find a donor jeep at the JY. A lot of stuff from 91-96 interchanges. wiring issues suck but with a test light & a lot of patience you can make it right.

Check all your grounds. And make sure the head light **** is turned to the left, but not "clicked" to the left. I went ape**** for a week trying to figure out why my lights worked but none of my interior gauge/ control backlighting came on. Turns out the switch was all the way to the right thus shutting them off.

Hi I got the same handbrake problem with my 1997 Cherokee the button was missing but later found it when I stripped the center consul out. the lever is also missing the operationg rod to the hand brake rachet. I removed the plastic cover on the hand brake lever as couldn't see how the rod connected. It looks like it might be a straight rod with a horse shoe shape bent into it this fits over the pall and is held in place by the sides of the hand brake lever, I removed the rachet pall fulcrum pin so i could get a satisfactory fit and have just put it back together and all iI now have to do is cut the rod to length and fit a smlight compression spring under the button and finally araldite the button to the rod. I may drill through the button and fit a nut sunken nut into it.
I have just finished and all is working but it does seem a bit crude. I hope you don't have to do all that and it is just the button that is missing
cheers greg
