Default Check Engine light, comes on?

After driving a little the "Check Engine” Light comes on then if the vehicle to turned off when it is restarted the check engine light does not come on again until a few minuets late. What sensors could cause the "Check Engine” light to come on? Or is it a sensor at all? I am new to the Cherokee Forum. Thank you for the help.

Thank you ol'Blue, I'll let you know how it works out. The site you got the code information from is awesome, everyone with a Jeep should know about it. Thanks again.

Could be many reasons. Go to your local checkers and ask to use the obdII and they will tell you what is making the light come on. After you fixed the issue see if they will delete the error if they do not unhook your batttery for 30 mins and all should be good.

Thank you ol"blue and XCherokeeJeepX. The last guy to work on the OX sensor wired it backwards, all that needed to be done was to switch a couple of wires and all is good.

Many many thanks

Thanks for that list ol Blue! I had the CEL on and couldn't figure out why, and now I know it's simply because I had disconnected the battery while working on the wiring. Saved me a trip to the auto store!
