92 Cherokee Laredo wont start
 

Please help...im so upset. Ive only owned it for less than a week. It is my first vehicle and i completely fell in love. I want to give it the royal treatment when finances allow. But right now its just sitting in my driveway getting rusty like a chevy is sposed too! I didnt even get a chance to get it muddy yet!!

Sometimes it was giving me crap. It wouldnt want to start while in park but i found out if i put it into neutral it would start. That worked for less than a day. Now it wont start at all and for some reason the battery has run dead. I live in vermillion south dakota. If anyone is near and might be willing to help me fix this id appreciate it. I cant let my first car die like this!! I also really need help with the stereo. Whoever installed it really screwed things up witht he wiring... Thanks anyone who takes the time to offer a word or two of advice.

Thank you for replying! Ive been so nervous that this will cost me a crap ton. I paid 800 for my jeep and its got alot of replaced parts on it. The entire brake system was redone. Its got custom rims and tires an aftermarket radiator. And while it did run it was so strong. It made me feel alive! And i want that back!! Im going to go read up on this. Thank you again.

Read/study the link thoroughly. Be patient and careful and you can to this yourself. They are easily broken when removing if not taken straight out. A new NSS is kind of pricey.

I think i found the NSS. If i was sitting in the driver seat its on the right side. towards the front of the transmission. its hard to see anything there. I had to go under the car couldnt see it from above. The bolt held down by tabs is covered in rust. Which could be a problem for getting it off. Id assume the rest of it inside and out would then be rusty too. I may hit it with pb blaster before i try to mess with anything.

Oh i forgot a detail. When i turn the key theres a click its inside the car though. Its coming from a black box underneathe the glove box behind the paneling. What is this?

It's between the trans cooler lines which should be on the pass. side. Look at the pics in the link.

I'm not sure. Maybe someone will chime in that knows?

I just removed/cleaned up my NSS yesterday. I have very little mechanical experience and had NO PROBLEM doing it.

Check your battery connections...could be a bad ground wire. Mine was having trouble starting....sometimes it would, sometimes it would not. So i cut the ground wire and put the battery connector back on and it works now...just a thought.

Power lock relays for keyless entry, under the foot panel, passenger side.
The NSS provides ground path to the starter relay. You can easily bypass it by wireing a ground to the brown-yellow wire (double wire) of the starter relay.

Well i got the cable undone and the zip ties clipped. Jacked the car up a bit so i could maneuver my arms around there a bit better. Kept getting dirt in my eyes and theres a storm coming so i said eff it and gave up. I dont seem to have tools capable of removing the first nut. Does ayone know what tools specificly such as sizes and types you need to use to get the NSS off? None of the guides say what was used.
