Well my buddy has a I6 or V6 (I'm not so sure at the moment) that he is selling for $2500 that has less than 190k miles. I have a brand new Chevy 350 crate engine, and I was wondering if I would be able to Drop the engine in the Cherokee. Would I need to switch the tranny also? I am pretty sure I would have to switch the motor mounts. Do you think that this is possible? I would like to know before I buy this Jeep.

This engine mount kits is used to install GM V8 into the 1984-95 4wd Jeep Cherokee XJ. The engine mount kit includes GM rubber mounts, driver side & passenger side frame bracket’s, fastening hardware and engine mount instructions.

Note: The Cherokee must have a 3” or more suspension lift.

But I would rather not have to put a three inch lift, and I am pretty sure the jeep is 2wd..

The lift is to clear suspension and steering components. What about a tranny adapter?

I'm looking into a V8 conversion kit for my jeep as well. I did not see anything on advance adapters for an xj in regards to kits.
