Default 91 xj no start

my daughter's grandpa has a 91 xj and has a no start issue. he replaced the old motor with a good running motor from a rear ended 98 xj. he swapped the stuff needed from the 91 to the 98 block. it cranks has fuel but not getting spark. i know he has tried new sensors, distributor, and i believe a new module. any ideas i can relay to him?

There are a whole lot of variables with this. We couldn't be much help without more information which you will have to gather. Like does it have spark? is it getting fuel? Any engine codes? Etc.

Tell grandpa he should join the Cherokee forum LOL!
I can see too many questions that need answers at this point. He's switching engine management systems (from RENIX to OBD). A big change.
