91 Cherokee 4.0 map sensor wire colors needed
Replaced the motor after hydro-locking it, map sensor wires were all mangled and just taped together by PO, in pulling the motor I figured that out. Does anyone have a 91 that knows what order the wires are supposed to hook up?
I have purple/white red/green black/blue Hooked them up how I thought they went, but getting code 13 and 14 from check engine light and its running really rough, smoking, backfires under throttle etc.. thanks... |
From what I see on mine when its plugged in, black/blue on right side or closest to the engine, middle is the red/green, and the one farthest from the engine is purple/white wire.

Can hooking them up incorrectly fry the sensor? I now have code 13, 14, 13 when they are hooked up like I think you are saying to do. But was wondering if I originally fried it having them hooked up wrong.

OK, went and exchanged the sensor, no longer giving the codes 13 and 14, only 12 which I know is OK since I had battery unhooked while swapping the motor. Issue now is when starting the jeep it runs poorly, a few seconds later the cel comes on and it actually runs better, not good but noticeably better. Still like its miss-firing a bit. Anyone have any clues as to where to look now?

Umm no it shouldn't fry it. The only time it would fry would be if you put a 12v into the circuit. And from the bumper it would be left to right same as before. It could be iac making it run like crap right away. Is it constantly feeling like its misfiring? Or just when it idles?

Hmm i guess the easiest thing to check first is to double check to make all connectors are on. Then if you don't find anything check the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. Could you find out what the cel light code is when its running at all? To get that code
