I had one on my 94 xj and the only gripe I had was you had to take the carpet up about every year and clean the dog hair out of the connectors. My German Shepards were always bouncing from front seat to middle seat than back and back because they liked riding with dad.

They also liked the windows down so they could bark at anything that came up beside us.

Exactly. I once tried to figure out a way to do this with relays, because I have a boatload I got at a surplus auction. Turns out I needed 5 per side.

Even at at less than a buck apiece, it's not worth the hassle, it's not worth the time.

And you are NOT going to do it without relays, diodes, or other solid state switches.

Just go buy one!

I added a Utube and photos to post #1, and edited the above relay post.

I just bumped this thread because I think post #1 is finished. I've never submitted a write-up, wondering if that qualifies?

One last bump for the weekday crowd. I think post #1 is finished. I've never submitted a write-up, wondering if post #1 qualifies?

anybody know if those pin locations in the connector, and/or colors for the different lights are different for the 1988 model year?

A: answering my own question, and going by OP's diagram (thanks btw). use the color codes on the wires coming from the front of the vehicle and you will be spot on. the colors change on some of them on the rear connector. also the positions of the wires are not the same as your diagram on one or two wires, so just go by the colors and splice ahead of the connector and it's perfect. tie white on trailer assem to screw instead of splicing. (ground)

That will learn me! (about assumptions)...I had assumed 88 would be the same. I'll add your comment to post #1, and thanks!
