90 accelorator cable(throttle cable)

ok i got a 1990 jeep cherokee for 500 bux.drove it about 70 miles home fine, took it though a few mud holes around my barn, then parked it.3 days later i leave my barn and the gas pedal falls loose and i had nothing, still runs fine.what i'm thinking is i broke my throttle cable, dose this sound right?......i've never broke a cable before in any of my cars or trucks so i would'nt know what is going on.please help

I had that issue the cable popped off the pedal on top were a bushing was sopposed to be. I fixed it with a zip tie no more problems.
