89 Jeep Cherokee stock gear ratio Dana 35 non c-clip help
What is a stock gear ratio on an 89 Jeep Cherokee Laredo Dana 35 non c-clip ??????I want to do in axle swap on my 89 Jeep Cherokee due to a blown pinion bearing. I really can't afford a full rebuild the Jeep is old and I just wanted to run right. Any suggestions or information would be very helpful.

Your best and cheapest route may be to swap in a Chy 8.25 from a 97-01 XJ it has 29 spline axles, much stronger and not a lot of money from the JY. Any from a 4.0 with an AW4 trans should have a 3.55 gear in it.

And if you're not gonna beat the crap out of it, an earlier 8.25 will be just fine.
