89 heater issue
I have a 89 jeep cherokee with 4.0 with stock mech. fan. trouble is when it starts to get around 10 below Celsius the heat is luke warm at best but is warm before that, never gets real hot like my old chev truck. Vents work good for cool air in the summer ,Looks like the trap door is shutting proper. I only have idiot lights for temp.gauge.Should I invest in a bra for the grill ? or could I over heat the engine. Has a new rad and does not have air

Flush the heck out of your heater core. Forwards and backwards with a garden hose... no high pressure stuff.
Does the 89 use the Heater control valve? If so eliminate it. I did on my 95 and it's fantastic.
If the engine temp is good there's nothing good a bra is going to do for you. I'd invest in a JY search for a proper gauge cluster that is compatible with your year.

Like said you can eliminate the heater valve, does take a bit of doing. I removed mine cuz it broke, now in summer with no AC there is only a tad more heat. I mention that because twice I've seen a buildup of deposits on the deal in the valve. When it's "OPEN", 1/2 the flow was cut off.
For flushing the heater core I just held the end of the garden hose in my fist with one, then the other, (back and forth). I figure that way the pressure can't go nutty high and blow the core
