89 cooling conversion
Im doing the open cooling conversion to my 89 xj. When you eliminate the heater valve...will you have hot air in the cab all the time? Or is there a flapper door that blocks the heat like in a more modern rig?
Thanks!
Edit: may sound like a dumb question but I would just like to make sure, thanks.

No, you will not get heat into the passenger area.
Yes, there is a blend air door to control heat. Make sure it's closing all the way.

I just did the HCV elimination on my 95 a few weeks ago. It went easier than expected, the 97+ hoses sit right in the old hose brackets and zero problems with cool air in the cabin when the selector is on "cold".

Thanks...I came across the thread from a long while back with you, Cruiser and others putting together the parts list for the conversion. I gathered up everything on it and will be working on it soon.

Got a lot done today...new fan clutch, waterpump, flush, thermostat, radiator...with cap. Going to pull off old hoses tomorrow and finish the conversion. Is there any reason I cant keep the old pressure bottle as an overflow? Or should I just get a generic overflow from Napa?
Just wonderin...would save some bracket building.
Also, does the hose coming off the waterpump go into the top or bottom fitting of heater core? Or does it matter?
Thanks!
Mark

Looks like the only problem I may have is when I disconnected the bottom tranny cooler line, I came back later and found an oring laying there. I looked on the fitting that is on the radiator and there was already an oring on there. So Im not sure if it takes 2 orings?

2 o-rings with a spacer in between.
