89 cherokee U joits help?

i have an 89 cherokee laredo, its stock right now because i just bought it about a month ago and took it up the mountian, it was making a clicking noise in the front end and a buddy told me i blew the u joints, i have pictures here, i was wondering if i needed the driveshaft and the u joints or just the u joints. the driveshaft is really loose.

Replace the U joints first.

The picture looks like axle shafts? is that what it is? Front axle u-joints? And yes that joint is bad if it is the axle joints replace both sides and that should do it.

ya they are the axle shafts, i was wondering if i needed to replace those aswell? i wasnt to sure, i went down to the local parts store and the U joints are 37 bucks each.

As long as it's strictly the U joint that blew and there's no visible damage to the shafts you should be OK with just the U joints

Yep that's about right but a word of advice..don't go cheap on axle joints b/c you don't want to keep changing them cause they are a pain to do...Tj
