keep the 89 intake and exhaust manifolds. the 89 distributer. the 89 valve cover. the 89 flywheel / flex plate. and also the 89 valve cover. other wise bolt it in and go. keep all the 89 fule rails. but up grade to Mustang #19 injectors.

Cool. Someone said that a lot of the sensors are different and it was hard to make it fit. All i want is the long block. I also already put the neon injectors in it.

I'll trade you a good running '89 engine for that '97

you'll end up keeping all your sensors. it's a long block swap. the intake ports on HO head are different sizes. you can team them out. but you won't notice the difference either way. it's just more work.

Another tip: Before you install that longblock, remove the 5/16" square coolant galley plug from the donor block so you'll have a place to mount you CTS. Not fun to do after installation.

I've found that the only people who say it's hard are those who have never done it!!!

Also be sure to use the intake/exhaust gasket for the 97.

I have done a lot of engine swaps and rebuilt a bunch too so Im sure i can figure it out. Most of the work i have done is on gm products because i worked in a gm shop. This is my first jeep and so far i absolutely love it.

If needed, coolant sender can be put in the 97's thermostat housing if there is no provision in the back of the head for it.

The 97 will either have a tapped boss for the knock sensor or an untapped boss.
