Default 89 aw4 random slipping

The problem is that the transmission feels like it goes into neutral, if I stay on the gas it will barely pull, if I let off the gas for a minute it comes back and works fine. This only happens on the highway over 55 in overdrive and lock up and usually only once in a 20 mile trip. Transmission works great otherwise. No shifting issues.

Have you checked the fluid and filter? Fluid should be red and not smell burned, check it when the truck is warmed up. To check the filter you'll have to drop the pan on the transmission.

Is this a recent problem or has this been happening for a while?

How many miles on the transmission?

Filter is litteraly a metal screen it does not matter on Cherokees.

The fluid didn't look bad but I did a fluid exchange just to make sure it was the right stuff. "Dex3" I have increased the line psi via the tv cable and it hasn't messed up in a few days. If it has another fit I am going to pull the fuse and rule out mechanical issues.

Has had regular trans fluid changes. Jeep has 188k miles and have replaced the tps and set it to spec.
