Are Class III tow hitches from any 89-2001 XJ interchangeable?


I have a '97 XJ.
Jeep wrecker says I need hitch specific to 1997-2001 XJ.
Lots of 89-95 XJs in Upull yards.


I learned about nut plate strips.


Need to know if 89-95 hitches have same drop (hitch height) and mount holes to fit '97 XJ?

No they will not fit, but I do have one off my 99 for sale.

 

I just installed one on my 2000. I purchased new from Etrailer.com whom I'd highly recommend. I got a Curt hitch and trailer wiring harness delivered to my door within 24 hours for $190. I decided to get a new one for that price because of the amount of rust on used ones and the PITA it would be to remove in the junk yard. The nut plates on my Jeep were too rusted to use so I used the included hardware instead.
