88 xj speedometer isnt working
 

so, the cable isn't broken, nothing in the speedometer is broken, the cable isnt gunked up, and everything fits right. my idea is its the plastic gear on the end, that slides into the tcase, but im not sure. when you go to put that gear in, how can you tell its sitting correctly? the tcase is a NP231 if that helps any.

Don't think theres any true way to tell..
I think you need to just keep removing/reinstalling the speedo gear until it works..took me 2 or 3 times until mine worked.

All I did was remove the gear, twist it slightly and reinstall. I'm talking about the one on the tcase that is..

X2, I had to do it a few times to get it to work. Idk why but just keep at it and good luck
