k today got off the highway. engine backfired. started idling a little funky.. so i got to the girlfrinds house and oil was all over the engine compartment. couldnt even tell where it was coming from.. so i drove it home and it smells like burnt rubber the whole time. runs like normal wen cruising but idles rought. any ideas on wut broke?

oil pressure sender broke? does the gauge read oil pressure when driving?

oil on the engine and belts, or that got into a spark plug can cause ruff idle. check engine light on at all?

check engine lights been on since i got it been about 10000 miles since then. just changed the spark plugs still idles rough. all the old plugs were fowled. no warning lights come on

how does your cap and rotor look?Could be your plug wires,map sensor,IAC,so many things could cause the rough idle,you need to check things one at a time to elimenate them.

cap and rotor are fine pulled and checked em plug wires r new. oh and it blows smoke through the pcv valve and and the dipstick. but its not going through much oil

cleaned out the throttle body and it runs better. it smokes out of the crank case. wen at a stop you can see the smoke pouring out of the hood. oil is all over the passenger side of the motor. looks like it may be blowing out of the valve cover ill change that gasket out tommorow and c if that fixes that. its got serious blow by into the airfilter. everything under the front of the jeep is soaked in oil. runs fine just spews out oil like it taste bad. ill start shopping for a new fourpopper for now and start working on a chevy 350 swap also.
