88 cherokee computer died

88 cherokee computer died
so my computer died and my jeep is going freaking nuts. i have an 88 cherokee with the 4.0 and a 5 speed. some guy is parting out his jeep and will sell his computer from his 1989 cherokee for 20 bucks but his was a 4.0 with the automatic, does it matter wut transmission they had or can i get any computer as long as it is for the renix system which they had from 1987-1989?
