87 Cherokee no crank. NSS?
My girlfriend has an 87 pioneer that we can't get to crank. She moved it out of the driveway one day and when she went to pull it back in it wouldn't crank. Replaced the battery, starter, starter relay, ignition switch and it still will not crank. I checked all the fuses and they all seem to be good. My next thought was the neutral safety switch. My thought was if I unplug that and run a jumper wire to B and C (the two prongs that have power when in neutral or park) it should work if the switch is the problem. So I tried it and still nothing. Is my thinking correct on that or am I totally off base? If it's not the NSS then I have no other ideas on what it could be. Any input would be extremely appreciated.

Starter solenoid ? Did not see that on your list. The jumper of B&C is the correct way, NSS is pretty easy to rebuild/clean if needed. Seen a you tube vid awhile ago that is the way I did mine years ago. Follow the power from the switch, go to be dead at some point.
Its a shame more guys don't post there fixes afterwards, because there is hundreds of the these no start posts with no conclusion posted. |
