87 4.0 I6 overheating after hour of driving
Greetings, I recently purchased an 87 Cherokee 4.0 Pioneer with only 60k miles, obviously it has been sitting for periods of time, I flushed the radiator and replaced the plastic reservoir bottle (pressurized system/no radiator cap) and the thermostat with OEM 195, also replaced the fan clutch, I also found the proper way to burp/purge air out of the system by doing a search on here (parked on incline and loosened temp sending gauge until all air was out)...here’s is still my problem, I can drive the vehicle for at least an hour and the temp will slowly rise to 210 over that hour, after that it just starts to creep up to the 215-220 mark at which time the reservoir bottle will build so much pressure the water is up to the cap and starting to leak out under the cap (cap was new with new reservoir) at which time I let it cool down for a few minutes. I know that I have not went past the fill line on the bottle when the vehicle is cold and parked. Could I have a defective thermostat?...or other issues?
