8.25 yoke broke
#5
If you are talking about the tab on the side that holds the u-joint cap in place you will be fine for casual street use until you can find a replacement. Just not any high torque offroading or burnouts. The pinion nut is a 30mm and is a bear to remove with a good impact wrench. I broke off the tab on mine and drove it for several weeks without issue until I found a new one.

A large pipe wrench or monkey to hold the yoke tight, then you should be able to spin the yoke nut off(not sure of size) and any JY should have one available for you. Just bring broke yolk to match up new one.
not a bad time to bang new joints in your drive shaft.

Both yokes pictured above are for the 8.25. They have the same spline count and same u-joint but the one on the left is from a 95 with 27 spline axles. the one on the right is from a 96 that could have had 27 or 29 spline axles. There is a small difference in the length of the yokes but either one will work. Your 98 should be like the on on the right.

I cannot vouch for the 30 mm ... as I've never tried it. But I generally use 1 1/8 sockets on mine. Next time I do a R&P, I'll try the 30 mm and see how it fits.
BTW ... don't just slam the nut back on. The 8.25 uses a crush sleeve. If you over-tighten .. you will mess bearing preload. Best to mark the nut and pinion shaft and re-tighten back to that mark (plus a 1/4 hair more). It may be helpful to count the number of revolutions it takes to remove the nut .... that way you know when you're getting close.
