8.25 Chrysler rear axle questions
Ok so she has 215k on her, and the rear end has increasingly gotten noisier over the last 15k, so im thinking its time....1992 Laredo....what should I look for when I go to Pick and Pull? I think I remember seeing something about later models being better, more splines or something?

1996-2001 has a stronger version of the 8.25 axle. It has 29 splines instead of 27 splines on the axle shafts.
Why not pop open the diff you have now just to take a look around? It might be something stupid and cheap to fix like water in the gear oil that's causing some noise.

Well there is a lot of vibration starting, and I have been hearing some howling under light load.....such as decellerating while going downhill....figured with 215,000, the pinion bearings are pretty well worn, as well as the axle bearings. I can get another axle at the jy for $100. I have everything to convert the drums to disk sitting in the shop waiting to be bolted on....just figured i would make a day of it when i do that and go with a newer diff.....
