when i went from 4.5" to 7", i did long arms, SYE, IRO OTK steering, extended brake lines, longer shocks, adjustable tracbar with drop bracket, and beefed up some for the 35s. i wouldnt recomend short arms for anything over 4.5" of lift. all the shock from bumps is going straight into the unibody and its gonna be a very harsh ride.

just my 2 cents

anything after 5" is highly recommended to go to a long arm set up, but again it is personal preference. i hare run a 6.5" short and long arm set up and the long arm is 10 times better ride, handling, control, and offroad ability! but it is your choice

the main reason i did not go with long arn is if for any reason i sell my girl the only reason would be if i find a good running comanchee it would hve to go with the truck and at the height and spring rate im at ride is not a concern and love the bumps when the ladies ride shotgun lol

thanks for the replys. i would LOVE a long arm kit but the kit im getting is $250 so i figured what the hell haha. i know im guna need brake lines but im more concerned about drive lines and vibrations. i had to deal with that crap with my 79 bronco and i just wanted to know if i should get ready for it again, iv heard i need to get ones made and iv heard i can use stoke ones with a tcase drop. the biggest im going is 33's i think, and im not worried about a crapy ride haha im kinda used to it, the newest thing i own is my jeep. thanks again for any help.

thanks freegdr for posting the picture. iv been wondering what it was guna look like with the 7.5 on 33's i looks sweet. ur tires look bigger then 33's, i can see what u mean by the ture size thing. i think im guna run 33x10.5x16's swampers and maybe get the gears out of a 4 cyl jeep, iv heard that they came with 410s or something like that. i have looked at the SYI's and if i had the money id do it but i have to get a 231, syi, new d-lines and that would cost me around $300- $500 when the tcase drop comes with the lift im getting. can i get long arms and still use the springs that i have?

Your XJ looks real sweet! Have you drove it off-road?
If not yet, I'm sure you're excited to test it..

That looks sick with the 38,s. Luckily we have some local guys that just part out xj's (jolapy jeeps in candy or.) I don't even have to go to a junk yard to get my gears and they are cheap. I looked at some of your pics and saw the springs u have now, are they 8inch springs with a space or 10.5 inch springs?
