So I found some differentials for my conversion and found the
numbers 538. I guess that is the ratio. What model axle/diff do I
have? It's from a 88 xj Also, is this information useful when buying new
ball joints,tie rod ends etc? Are these parts the same for each year?

I think 488s is the most you can go
in stock Cherokee axles...
Can you take pics of your axles.

 

Unfortunately they are at my brother's house 40 minutes away. I'll
be heading out this week to clean them and I'll look them over again.
