Default 4x4 question

so today i was using my 4x4 and i pulled over to clean the back window off of snow cuz my window motor is shot, i put it back in drive and the front axle made a grindin noise so i go to put it in 2wd and it wouldn't move so i go in reverse and then back in drive and finally got it back into 2wd, the previous owner said it was the 4x4 actuator switch??? if it is where can i find it to replace it?(i've only had my jeep about a month now, so im still new to jeeps)

Which transfer case do you have? Do you have a 4FT setting on the Bezel? Either way the only actuator switch is the one that turns on the dash light, has no other function. Your shifter linkage may just be out of adjustment.

ok thank you, i'll do this tomorrow and keep an eye on it. the previous owner said it would only happen once in a while, and since i had the jeep i used 4wd like maybe 10 times mostly on snow covered streets or hills and never had a problem till yesterday when i pulled over to clean my window.
