auto 231j tcase...replaced tcase last weekend and now cant shift past 4hi. put it in the garage and had someone work the lever while i moved the linkge underneath all seemed to work fine 4hi, N and 4lo would engage...greased everything and now when stopped or rolling a few mph i cant get the shifter to budge past 4hi it clicks over to the side but wont move past that? it looks to be in proper order with every diagram and online photo i found but im stumped.going to take the console plate out and see if something is jamming in the shifter itself now or if the linkage is just wasted.

 

Are you remembering to shift the transmission into neutral (or park if you're sitting still) before you attempt to shift it into tcase neutral or 4LO? Just trying to cover the basics.
