Default 4lo clicking??

Well went out today and played in the rain, i notice that when in 4 lo if i get the rpms up i hear a clicking sound, sounds like its coming from passenger front?

What/how should I check for problem first?

also when shifting from 2wd and 4wd do I need to be in neutral and do I need to back up after disengage?

thanks!

You can be in gear while going from 2H to 4H, but you need to be in neutral to go from 4H -> N -> 4L. You don't need to back up after being in 4LO unless you've run on pavement and disengaged it.

The clicking noise could be a stretched transfer case chain. Hard to say without actually being there.

i'll put it in neutral anyways, better safe than sorry.

but your clicking may also be the front u-joint.
