if i go down the road at 55 or so my truck will handle like crap and if i hit a bump the front end will start to wiggle and hop .. i have never seen or heard of this before .. mind you the shocks are new .. it is to the point where i have bent my rims ..

 

Sounds like DW,start by checking you trac bar bushings,then all your ball joints, then tie rod ends, and then control arm bushings.

 

also check wheel alignment and tire balance as well

 

Track bar and worn out control arm bushings can make the front end feel very strange. www.quadratec.com has complete control arms for about 45 bucks each, or a set of two from ebay would be about $60. www.energysuspension.com has polyurethane bushing kits available for the XJ as well.

I would really call it death wobble. also look at the steering stabilizer
