Default 40 Amp Ignition Fuse Keep Blowing When Car Is Running

I have a 1999 Cherokee that keeps blowing the 40 amp ignition fuse (labled as IGN ACC/RUN 40A in fuse panel) and will not start. When I replace the fuse, the car starts right up but blows the fuse shortly after. When the car is running (before the fuse goes) the radio lights and dashboard lights cut in and out briefly. Then once the fuse blows the car will not start.

I just started having this problem out of nowhere Friday. I replaced the fuse and everything was fine until I tried to drive my car again today. I started it up and after a few minutes it shut off because the fuse had blown. I replaced it again and same thing.

Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Could the voltage regulator cause an issue like this? Or would an overtight serpentine belt cause this to happen? I've tried visually inspecting wiring in the engine compartment to see if there might be possible shorts but I'm not seeing anything.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have the Mode Selector on the climate control panel set to OFF when this happens. If so, turn it off and see if it blows.

The Radiator Electric Fan does go through this fuse (indirectly). Pull the rad fan relay and see what happens.

Here's your PDC fuse lay out.

I’m having the same issue, I’ve noticed all the same things (starts up fine then blows fuse shortly after) also noticed every time I open my door while it’s running it’s starts squeaking pretty loudly, voltage drops to 5 volts then fuse blows any help is much appreciated
