Default 4.5 inch lift with 33-12.50

I have my lift(4.5 RC) on the way should be here before the end of the week, just bought some 33-12.5-r15s Goodyear wrangler MT/R's. I have a 91 4.0L with an ax-15 5speed and I know I am going to have to change the axles and gears.
I am wondering if anyone is running something like like this on stock gears and how drivable it is, and also how much gears and axles might cost at a JY and which ones would be best for a DD and a wheeler. Also will I have to do the front axle at the same time, and how important is that?
I have no clue when it comes to gearing this is my first off road build.
Thanks any help is appreciated

Id try to find a good set of 97+ manual tranny XJ axles. That way you get the bigger U-jointed high pinion 30 and a 29 spline 8.25 geared to 4:10s. 4:10s, 33s, and a 5 speed is about perfect IMO.

Heck even 3:55 geared axles would be an upgrade if you found a 29 spline 8.25.

Right now drivability isnt gonna be too good but itll work fine. Just try and save up for new JY axles or a regear soon.

Either way Id look at the JY for a newer 8.25 and regear it because chancs are you have a Dana 35 and it wont hold up to much wheeling. DDing it will be fine if geared properly but if youre gonna spend your money Id do it on a bigger and better axle thatll bolt right into your XJ.

Yes. But if you buy a JY axle chances are theyll throw in the ubolts free.

Definately a wise upgrade man. You can get a stock 8.25 on CL or at the JY for under $100 and build it while youre getting by on the 35. You can run the rear regeared and the front stock as long as you dont put it in 4wd. I did for like 3 weeks before I did the regear up front.

I had no idea they were that cheap that is in my price range for sure. So I would need to do a 8.25 regeared in the back and then regear my front and it should be good?
I have about 500 bucks to work with

I'm running stock 30/35 with 33x12.50x15 KM2's gas mileage sucks. Maybe its just but I've never had any trouble with them offroad.

That should get it if you're doing the rehear yourself or having a buddy help.

I got all my parts for about $550 but that included a front locker and rear axle with 4:10s and LS already added.

That's definately a good combo for 33s. Shouldn't give you any trouble.

Then yep. If theyre from an XJ, Only the front will bolt up if theyre from a TJ or ZJ.
