4.0 engine swap info needed
Help I just got burned on a 2001 xj w/114,k miles. it turns out that I have a cracked head (internal leak) and damaged cam bearings.
I need to exchange engine mine has coil pack, if i replace with 1997-99 engine what if any electronics would I need to change. Has anyone done this, can this be done effectively? I dont want to spend money on a 2000-01 4.0 with maybe the same problem.

I have read that with the transformation to the coil strip the head was modified and this is supposedly a wide spread problem.
My jeep is low miles- scares me to try & pick a used one only to end up with same problem.
On a budget, but even if I buy a remanufactured am I gonna get same problem.

I just replaced my engine, 2001 I look and founded a good engine with low miles out of a Jeep Cherokee Hit in rear. Found a good one for about $600 to 800. best to fine years 00 to 2004, ( 96 to 98) you will have to make bracket for coil ign and replaced distributor with old Crank angle sensor - on 2001 engines head 0331 were bad about cracking at #3 and 4 cylinder check engines for water leaking or water marks at #3 and 4 cylinders.
