4.0 cooling
 

Ok well about 4 months ago i took out my clutch fan (wasn't working) and then i went to a electric fan in its place the electric pulls 850 cfm. My question is is that enough air flow coming through the radiator in stop and go traffic if not can any one recommend what size i need in there i still have the stock electric also

You need at least 200 CFM and would be better off with around 3000 CFM for heavy offroading...

Personally I would have stayed with the viscous fan clutch setup..To get a fan that will push that much air will cost some $$$...I know many say the viscous causes HP loss but it can't be that much of a drag on the motor..A friend of mine has done the electric fan conversion and he has heat issues because he won't pay for a good quality 2500 or so CFM 15" electric fan...He took his jeep to the desert and well has had some nasty heat issues..I took mine to west texas in 107 degree temps and never got over 210...

thanks man i figured it wasnt enough i got it and my other on a switch plus the stock is still on a t switch it has been staying ok around town in the stop and go traffic but when i take it out i wanna make sure its gonna be ok

Yeah around town you will be ok likely but long highway trips or offroad you will likely have issue..Also consider a 3 core radiator to help as well..dpgoffroad has CFS 3 cores for around $170 and well worth every penny..

As okc says go-jeep has a write up but uses a fan from an Australian car which we don't have here. Most people use a Taurus fan with two speeds. Go-jeep may mention it. There are many write ups about using the Taurus fan to replace the mechanical viscous fan. I think the magic number is 2300 CFM for the fan. The Taurus fan's shroud needs to be altered to fit in place of the OEM fan.
I'll look for a link to the fan modifications tonight and post them in this thread later, so check back.

X2 on the viscous set up!! I had a dual electric set-up and changed it to one viscous and one electric that I switched on the inside for wheeling. Basically, when I put it in 4 Low the fan gets turned on, at least that's what I do. I have temps around 200 when really wheeling and 185-190 on the road with this set-up. My $.02, hope it helps!!
