35s on an 4cyl
Hello, I have a xj with 4cyl motor 5 spd tranny and 4.10 gears
will it turn 35 inch tires. its has a 4.5 rough country and im adding a 1.75 lift to the front and 2" in the back and will cut/trim fenders to make fit the 35s your thoughs Thanks |
yes, it will move out alright. It may suck getting on the highway or having to move out in front of someone fast. 4.56 would be better......
I ran 38's on a 1981 toyota pickup with a 22R 4 banger. I had no trouble on trails but on the highway it took forever to get it to 60 mph.
my buddys got 35s on his 4 banger yota and it hauls ***, but its on 4:88's though. but i will tell you this, if ur going from stock wheel size to 35s you wont even want to drive it on the road anymore because of the drastic difference from stock tires it makes. but if ur already at like 32s it wont really be much different to you
sell ur 4cyl and keep the lift and buy a cheap 4.0 and get 33's instead...
I wouldn't get into a motor swap.... If anything maybe a rebuild and a low output turbo.
this is what iv got, getting some 35s 3months old for 50 bucks each
I mean sell your rig... keep the lift kit and put it on a new XJ with a 4.0
2.5s are good motors, I had one in a 86 comanche and I sold it with 223k on it. All I had was a ton of exhaust trouble, well it was pretty rigged up when I got it anyway.
Im really happy with my 4 bagger xj, I just cant pass up such a great deal
on some 35s but just wanted some in put on it. |
what size tires are you running now? and what do you plan on doing with your jeep? is it a strictly offroad toy or is it a DD/weekend warrior? depending on what you're using your jeep for, 35s may or may not work for you
its a dd but live in a really small town thats close to nothing, all my off road trails are no more than 5-10 miles and run for 100s of miles.
work is only 1.2 miles away. just the thought of 35s on a xj, how cool is that. |
