You can run them but most people will tell you that you will not use 4th gear much. I plan on goin to 33s when I regear to 4.56's. Alot of people do run them with stock gears though. I think it depends on your driving also.

You guys are misleading him big time. You can drive around just fine with 33's and 3.55 gears no problem. I do it on my daily driver. It still pulls hard enough to run against the little Honda cars from a stop light. Top end speed is good for cruising. Low end suffers a little but these motors compensate for that. I rarely use 1-2, 3rd for most driving and OD for freeway. Maybe its the HO that helps a little, or the lower mileage motor that I have perhaps. I would like to have different gears but, stock is perfectly fine for now.

Of course its going to be different with a manual.....that I dont have experience with.

i beg the differ. i ran 33s and 3.55s for 4 months and it was by far the worst thing i ever had to endure driving my jeep. it couldnt get out of its own way, overdrive is useless. idk where you live but i had to do highway driving up and over (small) mountains in NYS and i'd be in the slow lane at 3300 RPM doing 50 MPH getting honked at by big rigs. not to mention its hell on your tranny and you get like 10 mpg.

IMHO 3.55's on 33" tires is not good on the tranny. I really want 33's but can't afford a regear so 31's till I can afford a regear. Even if it doesn't feel like a slug it's not good on your trany at all.

im offering my experience, so are you. im in no way 'misleading' anyone. in my experience, it sucked. i have 4.56s now and its worlds better. once you regear youll realize what youre missing. no reason to settle bc "its a jeep its supposed to be that way" when it isnt.

His opinion isnt wrong. Go hard on your jeep with stock gears on 33s and smoke your tranny. ask me how i know. i drove around "fine" on stock gears on 33s for 6 months, doesnt mean it didnt suck comparatively or wasnt less than ideal.

regear to 4.56, then get back to me how stock 3.55s feel.

Still think you guys are wrong. If you drive the Heck out or your rig of course the tranny is going to heat up and die. Thats a given for any rig. Keep ganging up on me thats fine but I know since my cherokee has made 2 non stop trips to Reno Nevada and back with this setup in the middle of summer....so you do the math. Plus a daily driver

Race......hahaha...I'll meet you in my driveway tomorrow.
