Default 33s on a 3" lift?...HELP!

hey guys, I ordered a nice 3" lift last week for my 00, i have been trying to find some new wheels to go with it, from what iv heard 31 is as big as you can go, i also thought i heard that you can gain some serious space just by cutting out the fenders some. I really like these wheels and am going to get a great deal on them!

can i make this word?!? please help!

Thanks all in advance, -Matt

yea people have done it, look up how to cut the fenders before you just hack away because the rears can only cut so much. Also you will probably need to bump stop as well to limit your up travel. I know it has been done but search is your friend

Ultra type 50 wheels...they run about $97 new. If you really like the wheels and cant afford to buy them new, buy this set, put some elbow grease into them and then get some 31's

Trust me you can cramb some 33's in there, but you wont have much wheel travel at all and wont be able to flex much...even if you hack your fenders up

33's would be a huge tire for a 3" lift but like BLACKSPORT said, it has been done. You'll need to trim the fenders A LOT, wheel spacers could help too.

it would work, but like has been said, A LOT of trimming, bump stops, and correct back spacing on the rims will be needed. Another suggestion would be to go another .5" of lift (MJ shackles and coil spacers) to give a little more clearance for the tires.

No, not a big difference, but it'll give you a little more clearance. JY for the shackles, someone on here selling them, or a parts store. RC, RE, Rusty's, etc, for the spacers.

I did it on my 1993 3" lift trimmed fenders to fit B/W Flat Flares and bumpstops. I would however suggest that you purchase .5" shackles and .75" spacers. I can get them for you for cheap. i will see if i can find an old pic for you.

I really like this jeep, but i really feel that the uptravel is really limited, and seeing as its got bushwackers, spydertrax (maybe homebrew), and an ORF bumper you could have gotten maybe a .5" bigger lift...

answer is yes u can do it. you will need to cut your fenders quit a bit. my buddy had a 3" lift and had 34's.. he had to hack the crap out of it but i thought it looked awesome, so im putting 33's on my 2" lift this week

One of my buddies fit 31" tires on his jeep stock so with a little finder trimming and maybe spacers if your 33"s are wider along with the 3" lift it will definitly work.

what is it with the forum and saying 3in lift is too low for 33s. I ran 32s on a 2in BB and cut fenders. 33s are prefect on 3inchs of lift with cut fenders. just bump stop it right before the tire hits the fenders and wheel. Its a great combo keeps the center of gravity low and gives toy great clearance where it matters in the diffs.

The comments about lack of travel are unfounded. With cut fenders upfront you'll have more travel the same rig with flairs and 31s. a 33 is only 2 inches taller then a 31 and there is more then 2 inches of metal to cut in the front in the rear with the flair removed you can cut and fold the lip into the wheel well giving you a lot more room out back too

Cut it and run 33s
