31x10.5x15 on a 99
 

Just curious if 31x10.5x15 tires will fit safely on my 99 cherokee sport xj, it is not lifted, but I do have 3" u bolt blocks that I can install. Also I heard that 3" blocks make for a bad suspension.. I will be heading out west soon and was wondering if these tires would really make that much worse for gas mileage? I will be hauling a trailer and a kayak..

The 97-01 wheel wells are smaller than previous. Putting a block especially a 3in block is a terrible idea. You may not have any issues if its strictly a street vehicle, but mild wheeling could cause major destruction. You should never block the front end either. Best advice I can give you is get a cheep lift, 2-3 inches or so and you will clear 31's with a little trimming. If you were close to FL I could sell you my 3.5 BDS lift off my 97 I'm scrapping. 31's wont make to much of a difference in economy or power, however there will be a small change.

How much would you be selling that BDS lift for? I'm in the market for a lift and I hear good stuff about theirs.......I'm in Texas, but I might be willing to pay shipping if the price were right?

31's fit pretty well on my stock 2000. even full flex with one rear wheel hanging I only had very minor rubbing in the rear wheel against the flare. I ended up folding the fenders, which gave me a ton of room, but they did fit anyway

Also depends alot on the tire and wheel backspacing. Most tires are a little smaller then thier claim, but some are bigger like thornbirds.

Do you have stock wheels? If so this will be the biggest issue with 31's. Backspacing is too high, you need about 4.5" BS or less. They will rub on the control arms, in tight turns, like turning into parking spaces. You will also need 2-3" of lift, too clear the fenders. I would suggest a Bastard Pack lift for this, 2-3" can be done for $250 with shocks. If you don't mind some JunkYard scavenging. If you plan to tow I wouldn't use the bolcks in the rear, stock springs Just too weak.

I just put the exact same size on my 96 and maby its just how large the tread/nubs are on the tire but i even trimmed my flares and im rubbing on the metal and so i cant drive it right now but i ordered a 3'' rough country lift for mine from jcwhitney and that should clear it for good....just gotta replace the flares now

Now I have some 10 inch wagon wheels, My jeep is Not lifted. Will I be able to put on 10 inch wheels/tires on my jeep without rubbing? Im about to pick up a set up Hankooks.
