2wd transmission on my 4x4??
Couple months back I had my transmission replaced and when I put it in "4wd" I never saw the 4wd light come on and thought hmm thats weird. When I put it out of 4wd and it made a slight grind so I was thinking oh ok so it was in 4wd. But I checked my invoice from transmission shop and it just says transmission not transmission 4x4 is there a way I can identify to see if I got 4wd transmission? I am afraid they ordered 2wd. I did tell them it was 4x4

if there is a transfercase attatched to it, then its a 4wd transmission

If you look at it you will know. 4x4 trans and 2wd are very different, aka no t-case
|
or better yet, if you have a front drive shaft, then you have a t-case attached, therefor having a 4x4 transmission.
but seriously, if a mechanic doesn't know the difference, he shouldn't be a mechanic. but i have seen some stupid mistakes made all the time. your issue may be just an out of adjusted t-case linkage. and the shop probably didn't hook up your sensor for your dash light. i would take it back and explain your situation. |
