Default 2in receiver problems

Picked up a reciever from the junkyard to throw on the xj. But i dont have the welded nuts in the unibody to bolt up to. Any suggestions?

They sell the nut strips online. I forget where, but you can google it and you should find a few places. A little pricey, imo, and no bolts included. You can also go to the reece or curt dealers site and you can buy just the installation hardware. It will have enough stuff for both sides. Maybe try ebay for some of this stuff. I think the stock hardware kit is pretty universal. You just need to check to see whats included and see if it fits your needs. If you were willing to remove the rear bumper you could probably just use regular nuts bolts and washers from the hardware store. Bumper removal would give you access to the heads of the bolts and make it easy to drop them right in the holes. Does your tailpipe not bolt into something in the frame rail? This is usually the nut strip for that side.

You can get nut strips from jcroffroad.com or a jeep dealer.

Or.... really test your skills... and patience.. do bolt fishing.


believe me... it's challenging, but my $15.00 Pull-A-Part hitch
was worth it.
